Friday Homework

Andrew Johnson's Reconstruction plan after Lincoln's death was to:

1) Pardons would be granted to those taking a loyalty.
2) No pardons would be available to high confederate and people owning properties that are more than $20,000.
3) A state was required to repeal it's secession ordinance.

Black Codes:

The black codes were laws that blacks had to follow in the USA about civil rights and civil liberties.
These laws were very limited to them.

Amendments 14 and 15:

The 14th amendment says that every citizen have his rights.
The 15th amendment says that every one have the right to vote if they are older then 18 years old.
The laws were also according to the blacks.

Radical Reconstruction:

The radical reconstruction is when republicans were not happy about the 13,14 and 15 th amendments.

Carpetbagger:

The term carpetbagger actually means a bag made out of carpet but it is also an expression to call someone from the north of the USA.

Scalawag:

Scalawag was a moniker for southern whites who supported reconstruction after the civil war.

Role Play

As you all know the civil war just stopped and it was the biggest massacre the USA have lived since it's foundation. The North have destroyed many things in the South. Most of the war ships have been destroyed 9000 miles of rail roads have also been destroyed most of it in the South. Farm lands, Farm building have been destroyed too. Other things destroyed are the factories, ports, cities and canals. The most important thing that were destroyed are soldiers, over 600,000 soldiers(from the North and South) have died during the civil war. One family out of three have been touched. Four million Black people are now free and to do what ever they want. The former slaves owners had now to let blacks vote, run for office and learn(go to school). While the South had to rebuilt their farms, houses and factories, little of the North have been destroyed.

Would a War Tax end the War?

If people had to pay taxes for war then they will maybe no war again in the world. By making the price to 11 billion dollars per month the war effort costs would pay for a lot of health care and other needs but I am not sure that raising taxes during a recession is a good.

What I remenbered from the video?

From the video I remembered many things such as:

California was a free state, New Mexico and Utah were becoming free states too. He wanted slavery to be allowed on the mexico territorry. Harriet Tubman was a spy of the USA during the civil, she contributed to the cretion of the underground railroad and she saved many slaves by sending them to the North and to Canada were they could be free.By late September, California was recongnized has a free state and New Mexico and Utah were created and they also signed the legislation by late September and Texas became has a slave state. The compromise was well suported by the nation. Slaves could have get 10$ if they said that they are slaves and 5$ if they say that they are free. If you lived in the north during the 1850's the south was far away. Harriet Stowe wrote a book called Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1852. Harriet family were abalonist or in the minister. Sha writes because she is very christians and she says that slaves should be treated with religions the same way as white people and not differently.Steven Douglas introduced the Kansas-Nebraska act and the big problem is that they wanted to make one state free and one state not free.Southerners wanted Kansas as a free state. In 1855 the election and the problem was that there are 3 million people living in Kansas and they got 6 million votes.

Presidential Election Of 1860

The election of 1860 was when the United States population elected Abraham Lincoln. This is important to now for our study of the Civil war because the Civil War started the month after Lincoln's election

Kansas-Nebraska Act

The Kansas-Nebraska act was when in 1854 they created those two territories that they called the Nebraska and the Kansas. This is important to our study of the Civil War because they allowed settlers in those territories to determine if they would allow slavery in those two territories.

Compromise Of 1850

The Compromise of 1850 was the confrontation of 4 years between the slaves that lived in the south and the free states of the north. It is important to our study of the civil war because this compromise didn't made the war stop and it made the Kansas and the Nebraska divided.

Compromise

Being selfish is an good example of compromise. It is a good example because when we look at a very nice clothes and we want to buy a kind of it, then at the last minute you say that it is too much money or it is not on sale and it is bad because you like something but you don't want to buy it(it is not that you can't). An another good example is when a friend need a little amount of money in school to buy a brownie or water and you tell him NO, then for him you are not a really good friend because if you were at his place he will maybe give it to you but now that you prove him you are selfish he will do the same thing with you.

The best place for me to live.

After my universities studies, I would like to come back to Casablanca and leave there because I will be with my family, and they are many jobs opportunities not as an employer but as a boss because in Morocco it is easy to make a company and win money. I would like to do the same jobs as my dad is doing right now or work with him because I admire this job and I like cloth style. If he does not want me to work with him I will follow the same path as him by making a small company before becoming one of the best companies in Morocco and for the moment my dad's company is one of the best in Morocco after Axal company(Zara....) and Nesk(Mango....).

Afganistan Election

Hamid Karzai has been officially declared the winner of the Afghan presidential election. The country’s election commission said there would be no second round following the withdrawal of rival candidate Abdullah Abdullah.

Bill Of Rights

For me the most important amendments are:

Amendment 1 because it gives people basic rights and it is very important.
Amendment 8 because people should have the right to pay a bail to go out of prison.

The last one is:

Amendment 2 because people should have the right to use guns to defend themselves

How the colonist defeated the english?

Britain had to send the entire war over the ocean to America, America had all the industry of war in its backyard. basically since the Americans did not have to ship the war overseas they were able to out produce the British and win the war.. In the beginning before the Americans really got the gears of wars rolling, the British stomped us.. also the Americans has high morale, they were fighting for their homes, while the Brits were far from home fighting for the king.

Vocab

1) Natural Theory: The theory that God gave us when we were born.

2) Right to Revolution: The population of a country have the right to overthrow the government.

3) Self Determination: The freedom to live as you want in your country.

4) Popular Sovereignty: The power that the politics give to its population.

5) Social Agreement: When the president or king of a country agree with the population to do what they want to do.

Why this order?

I choose that Natural Theory was the most important because this are the qualities that God gave us when we just came to life. In second Right to Revolution because a human have the right to say bad things about his country and critics about the King or President. In third Self Determination because normally a human living should have the right to do what he want and not to be forced to do something he doesn't like. In fourth popular sovereignty because a king should give power to a person that need it like poor people and people that are handicapped. In firth position Social Agreement because it is the less important for me.

Spanish and Portuguese Colonization of Morocco

The Spanish and Portuguese was terrible for Morocco:
- They conquered Ceuta, Melilla since 750 years.
- The Moroccans bring drugs and all products that are not aloud in Morocco from the city of Melilla.
- They are not many Spanish in Morocco.

French colonization in Morocco

The french colonization in Morocco helped a lot the country:
-French people came in Morocco to live.
-The French language is now speaken by everyone

They were also some bad things about it:
- He have changed the Moroccan flag because it had the star of David(picture at the right)
- He made the Jews left the country.

Who is migrating to Morocco? Why?

The people that are migrating to Morocco are espacially French and Americans. They come to Morocco because they have to work for their company that was installed in Morocco for few years and then go back to their country. There are also teachers that come to teach in schools such as Lycee Lyauthe and Casablanca American Schools, but they are also people that come to work at the consulate such as Justin's dad.

What are different reasons why Moroccans migrate away from Morocco?

Some of the reasont that I thought of are:

1) They want to visit something new and live in a rich country.

2) The country is not as much civilized as France and Spain.

3) The population is not respectful to the gouvenment..

4) A lot of coruption in the country.

Uk car sales up again

New car sales in Britain rose for a second month running in August. The figures seem to show the government’s scrappage scheme known in the UK as “cash for bangers” lured buyers into showrooms.Sales rose by six percent compared with August last year following July’s rise of 2.4 percent. The scheme gives drivers 2,300 euros to trade in a car more than 10 years old against a new model.
